US President Joe Biden has approved a secret national security memorandum aimed at preparing the incoming administration to counter growing cooperation between China, Iran, North Korea and Russia, reports the AP agency.
According to the publication, the development of the document began in the summer in the Biden administration. Its main goal is to help the future leadership of the United States form an effective approach to confronting the main geopolitical adversaries.
The document contains four key recommendations. In particular, the Trump administration is advised to strengthen interagency cooperation within the structures of the US government and accelerate the exchange of information with allies on the activities of the four main adversaries. The memorandum also talks about optimizing the use of sanctions and economic tools to achieve maximum effectiveness and preparing for the management of simultaneous crises that may be associated with these countries.
According to the sources, the memorandum is not intended to limit the freedom of action of the future administration or to incline it to a certain policy course. At the same time, it is designed to create a basis for capacity building and help the new leadership define its own approach to the most difficult challenges in the field of foreign policy.
The sources also said that the document could be an important guide for the new administration, regardless of who leads the White House after Joe Biden.
