The Polish Prime Minister said that Warsaw wants to play a leading role in ending the conflict.
Peace talks between Ukraine and the Russian Federation may begin this winter. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, Reuters reports.
He also announced several planned meetings. Warsaw wants to play a leading role in ending the conflict and will "take an active part in any negotiations" when it takes over the presidency of the European Union on January 1.
"Our delegation will be responsible ... for what the political calendar will look like, possibly how the situation will develop during the negotiations, which may, although still in doubt, start this winter," Tusk explained.
He announced the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Warsaw on Thursday. Politicians will discuss Macron's meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and the new US President Donald Trump.
Tusk also announced the visit of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to Warsaw. The Polish Prime Minister clarified that it will take place in the first days of Poland's presidency in the EU.
"I want Poland to be a country that will not only be present, but also set the tone for decisions that should ensure security," Tusk said.
