US President-elect Donald Trump called Prime Minister Justin Trudeau the governor of the "great state" of Canada.
He wrote about this on Tuesday on his own page on the Truth Social network, Ukrinform reports.
"I had the pleasure of having dinner one evening with the governor of the great state of Canada, Justin Trudeau. I look forward to meeting with the governor in the near future so that we can continue our deep negotiations on tariffs and trade, the results of which will be truly impressive for all," the US president-elect wrote.
The announcement comes after Trudeau said in Halifax on Monday that the United States is "starting to wake up" to the reality that rising tariffs on Canadian goods will make life much more expensive. Trudeau added that working with the US president-elect will be a little more difficult because his team's ideas about where they want to start are clearer than they were during the 2016 election.
At the end of November, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau flew to Florida to meet with Donald Trump and discuss customs policy. Then he voiced the message that not only Canadians would be harmed in this way, but also the States, where prices would immediately rise, and industry and business would suffer.
