Over 3 thousand servicemen who went to the SZCH (voluntarily leaving the unit) returned to the army only in the first 76 hours after the law #12095 came into force. According to it, conscripts who left military units for the first time or deserted can voluntarily return to service.
Oleksandr Grynchuk, deputy chief of the Main Directorate of the Military Law and Order Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, announced this at a briefing, "Glavkom" reports.
In general, according to Grinchuk, 40-60% of soldiers from the SZH return to service. The number of those who voluntarily left a part is sensitive information and is not disclosed.
In fact, Grinchuk convinces, not all of the soldiers who went to the SZCH are deserters, each case must be approached individually. "Many soldiers left due to special family circumstances, for treatment, not with the aim of escaping, but in order to resolve their affairs and return to the army. But there are also SZH, when the military is not going to return," Grynchuk explained. Among the reasons, he cites the fear of dying and being wounded, conflict with commanders, and fatigue.
According to the deputy chief of the Main Directorate of the Military Law and Order Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there are brigades with a high percentage of voluntary desertions, so the Military Law and Order Service works with them. Also, the commander of the unit to which the deserter returns after being in the reserve battalion must receive the soldier within 72 hours and provide him with material and material support.
"Society has the impression that no one is looking for them, but in reality it is not so. The military service of law and order records cases after the first call from the brigadier general. And it happens that we arrive, and the soldier has already returned." Oleksandr Grynchuk said.
By the way, the SZH of those soldiers who will return to the army before January 1, 2025 will be decriminalized.
