As reported by Ukrinform, the South China Morning Post reported this with reference to CCTV.
Xi reiterated Beijing's position on the war in Ukraine, saying that China has "repeatedly stressed" the need to adhere to three principles, namely: "not to expand the battlefield, not to allow the escalation of hostilities and not to exacerbate the conflict" and to seek rapid de-escalation.
"China will continue to defend its consistent position and work with the international community to create favorable conditions for a political settlement of the crisis (Russia's war against Ukraine - ed.)," Xi told Medvedev at a meeting on Thursday.
In addition, the leader of the People's Republic of China called Sino-Russian relations "exemplary" from the point of view of relations between neighboring countries, saying that China is ready to "strengthen strategic synergy" with Russia.
According to Xi, the two countries should cooperate closely in multilateral structures such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the United Nations.
He also stressed that the ruling parties of both countries will continue to strengthen coordination and cooperation to "lead global governance."
Also, according to a Chinese media report, Medvedev handed Xi a letter signed by Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, promising that Russia would "resolutely implement" the consensus of the leaders of the two states on deepening strategic cooperation.
