Russia is ahead of NATO in increasing the production of weapons for the war in Ukraine.

This is stated in the annual report of the Stockholm Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).

Last year, the revenues of Russia's leading defense contractors exceeded those of their "American and European counterparts" as they ramped up arms production more efficiently than their Western competitors.

The article states that a sharp increase in profits was recorded all over the world, in particular in companies from the Russian Federation and the Middle East. The authors were unable to obtain data on all Russian companies, but the combined revenue of the two Russian companies that made it to the top 40 increased by 25,5% and reached approximately $2,5 billion. At the same time, the revenues of the leading US and European defense contractors increased by 0,2% and 4,2%, respectively, against the global average of XNUMX%.

"Figures released by SIPRI cast doubt on the West's ability to supply Ukraine with the weapons it needs to defeat the Russian invasion, - observes "Dzerkalo Tsikhya". – Although the nominal turnover of the top American and European defense contractors was orders of magnitude higher—US$317 and US$133 billion, respectively, compared to Russia's US$25,5 billion—the SIPRI results show that Russia used its economy more effectively during the war. to satisfy the supply of his troops".

The SIPRI website states: “Forty-one of the Top 41 companies based in the U.S. generated $100 billion in arms sales, accounting for half of the total arms sales of the Top 317 and up 100 percent from 2,5…”.

At the same time"the combined revenue from arms sales of the 27 largest companies based in Europe in 2023 was $133 billion. This is only 0,2 percent more than in 2022, the smallest increase of any region in the world.”

"Official figures on Russian arms production are sparse and questionable, but most analysts believe that the production of new military equipment increased significantly in 2023, while Russia's existing arsenal underwent significant renewal and modernization, said Dr. Nan Tian. – In particular, combat aircraft, helicopters, UAVs, tanks, ammunition and missiles are all believed to have been produced in greater numbers as Russia continued its offensive in Ukraine."
