Pleasant taste, delicate texture and versatility — all this can be said about the beloved "Philadelphia" cheese. What do you want to cook? Dessert, appetizer, or even the main dish - you can add "Philadelphia" everywhere and it will fit perfectly there. The only problem with this cheese is its high cost. And if you live in a small town, then questions may also arise about the composition or expiration dates.
That is why experienced housewives prepare an analogue of "Philadelphia" on their own. It turns out not only identical in taste, but also much cheaper and more useful. And you can prepare as much as you like at once, instead of buying a bunch of small jars.
In order to make delicious cream cheese, you need to take 500 g of sour cream with a fat content of at least 20% and 500 g of natural yogurt. It is important that the yogurt is exclusively natural! That is, it should not contain fruits, cereals and sweeteners. You will also need half a teaspoon of salt and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.
Mix all the ingredients together to a homogeneous consistency. After that, take a colander, fix it on some bowls (so that it does not reach the bottom) and cover it with several layers of gauze. It should extend beyond the colander from all sides. Throw the resulting mixture on cheesecloth, then collect all its edges in a pile and tie. You need to put some yoke on top. It can be a jar of water, a pot of cereal, or anything else.
This "structure" should be placed in the refrigerator for 12 hours. During this time, all the whey will completely drain into the bowl under the colander, thanks to which you will get cream cheese with the desired texture. It tastes almost no different from store-bought "Philadelphia", and it will be even more difficult to notice the difference in ready-made dishes.
