The Czech Prime Minister called on European allies to strengthen their military potential and help Ukraine, without waiting for the first steps from the Americans.

Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala said that he spoke with the newly elected President of the United States of America Donald Trump by phone and discussed the war in Ukraine with him. Bloomberg writes about this on Monday, December 9.

In particular, the politician said that he was pleasantly surprised by this conversation.

"We discussed Prague's position on the Russian invasion, and then Trump talked about his family ties to the Czech Republic, where his late wife Ivanna was born. Mr. Trump wanted to understand our point of view. I believe that he is very well aware that the situation in Ukraine - and in the Middle East - must be resolved, and that the solution will be very difficult," Fiala said.

At the same time, Fiala said that forcing Ukraine to give up its territories will only contribute to the military machine of Kremlin ruler Putin. If the terms of the cease-fire are not accepted by Kyiv, Europe will see a repetition of the Munich Agreement.

"We found ourselves in a very difficult and dangerous situation, which some rightly describe as the second Cold War. It is in our best interest to have a strong America that shows its strength to Russia, because that is the only chance to stop Putin. The security of Europe simply cannot be ensured by Russia, which occupies part of Ukraine and will continue its aggression. I do not believe in the policy of appeasement - it always benefits the aggressor. Always," he noted.
