The Tank 500 SUV already has two hybrid versions. The Tank 500 Urban is designed for export and is equipped with a modest battery without the possibility of connecting to an outlet. And the Tank 500 Hi4-T modification for the Chinese market has a large battery that can be recharged from the network. Now another hybrid Tank 500 with the Hi4-Z attachment has debuted in China.
In October, Great Wall Motor introduced a new frame platform created specifically for hybrid models with the Hi4-Z power plant. Unlike the Hi4-T system, the new power plant has no mechanical connection between the axles. All because the traction battery is located within the wheelbase between the side members of the frame, and not in the trunk, as before. This made it possible to increase the battery capacity from 37,1 to 59,05 kWh without sacrificing interior space.
Under the hood, a 2,0-liter (252 hp) gasoline turbo engine is installed in conjunction with a three-speed DHT planetary gearbox, which includes a 292 hp traction electric motor.
