NATO is strengthening its forces on the border with the Russian Federation in the Arctic
British, American and Dutch paratroopers will train at the new center in northern Norway.
An amphibious operations center was opened in Norway, which will train the military. It appeared as part of another step by the NATO country to strengthen its operations on the border with the Russian Federation in the Arctic, Newsweek reported on Saturday, November 30.
It is noted that the center was established in Surreys in the north of the country. It will provide amphibious training for British, American and Dutch personnel.
Norway does not have its own airborne troops, but some of its main army units and special forces are based in the region.
"We must train together to protect Norway, the Nordic region and NATO in case of crisis and war," said the head of the Norwegian Ministry of Defense after visiting the facility.
In total, since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Norway has increased its investment in military facilities, spending about $1,44 billion on bases in the Troms region alone.
