Ophthalmologist Gunir J. Garg talked about the four vitamins that must be consumed to maintain normal vision. According to the expert, the list includes vitamins A, groups B, C and E.

The doctor believes that it is very important to maintain a balance of vitamins for eye health. Their deficiency increases the risk of developing dangerous diseases. "Carrots are very useful for the eyes. This is explained by the fact that it contains quite a lot of vitamin A. It is useful for both the cornea and the retina," the specialist said. With a lack of vitamin A in the body, vision deteriorates if the lighting is weak. "This can be improved by increasing vitamin A levels," said the doctor. Sweet potatoes, pumpkin, cheese and eggs are also suitable for this.

B vitamins, including B6, B12 and folic acid, help maintain a healthy eye condition and prevent age-related macular degeneration. This condition is accompanied by deterioration of the retina, which provokes blurred vision. B vitamins are able to reduce the level of homocysteine in the blood, which is an acid that attacks the retinal arteries. A deficiency of B vitamins leads to problems with the optic nerve. This tissue is responsible for transmitting images from the eye to the brain. Its deficiency is accompanied by a decrease in vision or the appearance of blind spots. Peanuts, chicken, soybeans and oats are enriched with vitamin B6.

Cataracts are considered one of the causes of vision deterioration with age. "Vitamins C and E are powerful antioxidants. They help prevent the occurrence of this disease," said Garg. According to the researchers who conducted the study, taking at least 140 mg of vitamin C per day helps prevent the onset of the disease. The doctor said that excessive use of the vitamin increases the risk of cataracts in men who are obese and have bad habits. Sweet peppers, strawberries, oranges and broccoli contain vitamin C.
