After the fall of the dictator Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria, the transfer of power from the current government to the opposition forces continues.

The leader of the Islamist Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group, Abu Muhammad al-Julani, who led the rebel offensive in Syria, said that the West had no reason to fear an opposition victory. He noted that his group does not seek further development of the conflict. Sky News said this in a comment on Tuesday, December 10.

"The fears of Western countries are unnecessary," he said.

Abu Muhammad al-Julani assured that he seeks to restore stability to Syria, adding that the local population is exhausted by years of war.

"The country is now moving towards development and recovery. It goes to stability. People are exhausted by the war. Therefore, the country is not ready for another war and is not going to get involved in another one," al-Julani said.

Abu Muhammad al-Julani also praised the efforts of his fighters, who he claimed took control of Syria without any outside support or interference.
