The House of Commons of the Parliament of Canada supported the allocation of 764 million Canadian dollars (about 587 million US dollars) for military aid to Ukraine. This is reported by the Correspondent.
It is noted that these funds are included in a large budget document, the approval of which will allow the government to spend an additional 21 billion Canadian dollars for various purposes, including national defense.
According to Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair, the money will be used for "ammunition, training and other means necessary for the Ukrainians to win."
The document also includes 400 million Canadian dollars (about 307 million US dollars) for financial assistance to Ukraine, which is allocated from a special IMF account.
In addition, the parliament approved 45 million Canadian dollars (about 35 million US dollars) for "humanitarian demining and strengthening cyber resilience in Ukraine."
The spending increase was approved by the House of Commons on the last day allowed by law. For this decision to enter into force, it still needs to be voted on by the Senate of Canada.
