Large-scale operations by the opposition, launched on November 27, 2024, led to the fall of the central government in Damascus. Now it became known that Assad, having fled to Russia, took a lot of money with him. Namely, 135 billion dollars.

This is written by the Turkish publication Turkiyegazetesi. Expert Khalid Beye said that the Assad family embezzled about 135 billion dollars during the long civil war. According to analysts, these funds were withdrawn mainly to the Russian Federation.

Beye noted that during the years of the conflict, the regime systematically appropriated state resources. "When the regime fell, they took the lion's share of the country's economy with them," the expert emphasized. $135 billion is a lot of money. For comparison, the annual GDP of Ukraine in 2024, according to forecasts, is 189 billion dollars (according to the Ministry of Finance).
