Improper hand washing can quickly spoil even the best quality items. Clothes can quickly wear out, lose their shape.
Whether it is too hot water, aggressive friction of fabrics, or an incorrectly selected detergent - all this can negatively affect the result.
Let's talk about common hand washing mistakes that should be avoided in order to keep clothes of high quality for a long time.
First fill the basin and then put the clothes
If you put dry clothes first and then pour water and detergent, you risk ruining the fabric. The correct way is to first pour water, dissolve the detergent, and only then immerse the items. This allows the product to be evenly distributed in the water without settling in the fabric fibers.
Do not rub things too hard
Fabric friction can quickly destroy even the highest quality material, especially if it is delicate. Instead, use a stain remover and gently rub it into the stained area with your fingers.
Leave the product on, then carefully remove it. If the stain persists, leave the item soaked for several hours.
Do not rinse under running water
Rinsing clothes under the tap can stretch and damage the fabric. It is better to fill the basin with clean water and rinse the item several times, changing the water, until the detergent remains disappear.
Don't twist things
Twisting, especially of silk and wool, spoils the fabric and leads to deformation. It is best to remove excess moisture by placing the item on a towel and gently pressing with the palms of your hands to release the water. Then wrap the clothes in a towel and squeeze them slightly.
Dry things horizontally, not on a line
Silk and wool items should not be hung in the dryer as this may cause them to pull out. It is better to lay them out on a clean towel, which you put on a flat surface, and leave to dry in a horizontal position. Turn the thing over when one side is dry.
Use the correct detergent
Many mistakenly believe that ordinary powder is suitable for any type of clothing. However, delicate fabrics such as silk, wool or cashmere require special detergents.
The use of ordinary powder can lead to loss of softness, color and even damage to the structure of the fabric. Always pay attention to the recommendations for choosing detergents for washing delicate clothes.
Avoid overfilling the pelvis
Sometimes, to save time, you can load a lot of things into a small basin at once. This is a mistake because the clothes don't have the space to clean properly and the fabrics can compress or stretch.
It is better to divide things into several stages of washing, especially if they are delicate materials that require special care.
