Volkswagen is preparing to abandon the popular 1.4 TSI engine. Information about the updated Golf appeared in the open database of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of China. It follows from the documents that after local modernization, the hatchback will lose the 1.4 TSI EA211 engine. It will be replaced by a more modern 1.5 TSI EA211 Evo unit.
An important nuance: the Chinese Golf is the last Volkswagen model that is available with this turbo engine, which means that the era is about to end.
The 1.5 TSI EA211 Evo turbo engine debuted in 2016. Its main feature is working in the economical Miller cycle. This engine also features a turbocharger with variable geometry, and Volkswagen claims better fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness. Progress in return is symbolic: in the case of the "eighth" Golf, the power will increase by 10 hp.
In China, a 1,5-speed preselective "robot" will work with the 7-liter engine. In Europe, there are also versions with 6-speed "mechanics".
