Mercedes-Benz is investigating the incident involving the electric EQA. A fire broke out in Britain: a 2022 electric car with 28 kilometers on the clock suddenly caught fire while it was parked near a garage, destroying the car and damaging the garage door. The incident happened last week, and Mercedes-Benz promised to look into the reasons for what happened. During the investigation, the family that owned an electric car was offered a replacement car, but they were afraid to drive a Mercedes again.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene were able to extinguish the fire, but the EQA was completely destroyed. The fire also damaged the door of the garage where the car was parked, and if it weren't for the rescuers, the flames could have spread to the house itself. In a conversation with the British media, the owner of the burned-out EQA said that he turned to Mercedes-Benz, but the company "didn't take his story seriously." Despite this, the automaker initiated an internal investigation, the results of which have not yet been announced.
No other cases of EQA ignition have been recorded so far. The only two things electric car owners complain about are the lack of a printed user manual and problems with the steering.
In Europe, the model is presented with a 190 hp electric motor. and a traction battery with a capacity of 66,5 kWh, the charge of which is enough for 426 kilometers.
