A new brand has appeared on the Ukrainian market - Ineos, which offers interesting Grenadier SUVs in several versions. AWT Bavaria, the official importer of Ineos, made a presentation of the new product. This is reported by Autoconsulting.
The Ineos Grenadier is somewhat reminiscent of the Land Rover Defender. The same one that the British company produced until 2016. Ineos Grenadier is its ideological descendant, but not a copy. The history of the appearance of this SUV is very interesting and fascinating.
Ineos Automotive Ltd was founded by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, billionaire and chairman of the multinational chemical company Ineos. Ratcliffe came up with the idea of creating a replacement for his Land Rover Defender and approached Jaguar Land Rover to buy everything he needed to continue production after the original model was withdrawn from production in Solihull in January 2016 after 67 years in production, but he refused Therefore, Ratcliffe decided to create his own project under the code name Projekt Grenadier.
The car is named after Ratcliffe's favorite pub, The Grenadier, in Belgravia, London, where the idea was hatched over beer glasses. The SUV was presented there later.
The car was supposed to be built in Wales, but it was later confirmed that it would be assembled in France. Production began in July 2022 at the Ineos Automotive plant in Ambassade, France.
In 2019, Ineos Automotive Ltd signs an agreement with BMW and receives 3-liter gasoline and diesel engines of the Bavarian firm, which have been specially modified for use on the Grenadier. Yes, the Ineos Grenadier is surprisingly thoughtful, but not ancient in design. No, it is modern, on modern units, but with a large safety margin. And there are also quite high-quality materials, seats from the best manufacturers and a huge customization program, according to which the car can be equipped to the point of dizziness.
Under the hood can be BMW engines, or a 3-liter gasoline 286 hp. and with a torque of 450 Nm, or diesel 249 hp. with a torque of 550 Nm. The box is an 8-speed "automatic" ZF. The transfer case has two rows and separate differential locks, which must be engaged with an old-school lever.
Ineos Grenadier is offered as a station wagon or pickup truck with a two-row cab. The price starts from 85 thousand euros.
