"After the eruption, there was a power outage, followed by rain and strong lightning, which caused panic among the residents," said Hadi Vijay.

He added that fiery lava and stones fell on the nearest settlements within a radius of four kilometers from the crater.

According to local official Geronimus Lamavuran, seven villages were affected by the eruption. As of the afternoon of November 4 (local time), at least 10 people have died.

Indonesia's emergency agency warned of possible flash floods and cold lava flows in the coming days. A representative of the agency, Abdul Muhari, said that local authorities have declared a state of emergency for the next 58 days and are collecting data on the number of evacuees.

The nearest airport, located in the city of Maumere, is temporarily closed.

As you know, Levotobi Laki-laki is one of 120 active volcanoes in Indonesia. The country is prone to earthquakes because it lies along the "Ring of Fire," a series of horseshoe-shaped seismic faults around the Pacific Ocean.
