The Basman Court of Moscow arrested in absentia the Tunisian judge of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Haikel Ben Mahfoud. This is reported by rosZMI.
It is noted that the preventive measure of the person involved was chosen from the moment of his detention on the territory of the Russian Federation or extradition to Russia.
Ben Mahfoud was charged in absentia with alleged illegal detention. He is declared an international wanted man.
According to the media, Ben Mafhud was among the judges who in the summer of 2024 issued a warrant for the arrest of the Secretary of the Security Council Sergei Shoigu, then the Minister of Defense of Russia, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov.
Ben Mafhoud is a Tunisian lawyer who has been a judge of the International Court of Justice since March 2024.
