Germany appealed to the government and other European countries with a request to immediately increase aid to Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin can take advantage of the transition period in the United States until Donald Trump becomes president, Le Monde reports.

"We don't have time to wait for spring, when the transition period has arrived, which Putin has always been waiting for in connection with the results of the elections in the USA," said German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock.

Everything that Europe can offer in support of Ukraine should be provided now, emphasized the head of the German Foreign Ministry. The publication noted that she noted the importance of strengthening the air defense of our country, which is in the "decisive phase" of the war.

"Shortly before the American elections, the largest drone attack ever was carried out on Kyiv, and the war reached a new level. Now it's a total air war," Burbok added.

The head of the German Foreign Ministry hopes that Berlin will be able to increase its budget spending on Kyiv to cover at least the basic needs of Ukrainian defense, including protection against enemy drones:

"In addition to measures at the European level, we now need more financial resources in the budget."

Burbok believes that the goal set by NATO countries to allocate 2% of GDP to defense is no longer sufficient these days.
