US President-elect Donald Trump has said he will not invite former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to his new administration.

"I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to join the Trump Administration as it is being formed," Trump tweeted on Saturday, adding: "I have loved and appreciated working with them in the past and would like to thank them for their service to our country".

Trump is meeting with potential candidates for positions in his administration ahead of the Jan. 20 inauguration. In particular, on Friday, according to the media resource, Trump met with the well-known investor Scott Bessent, who is a potential candidate for the post of US Treasury Secretary.
