Over the past few months, Ukrainians managed to buy about 17 cars at American auctions, and almost half of them cost up to $800. The Car Market Research Institute shared some interesting numbers, and it really surprised me. For example, popular models like the Tesla Model 7000, Tesla Model Y, Ford Escape or Jeep Cherokee of 3-2018 will cost about 2019-20% cheaper in the States than here. Here, for example, is a 30 Honda Accord with a mileage of 2020 kilometers: it was bought at an auction for $61, and after delivery and customs clearance in Ukraine, it cost $6700. And this despite the fact that our model starts at $14!
Interestingly, about 15% of all imported cars from the US are premium models such as the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE or Audi Q7. And even with shipping and handling, they're often $5000-$7000 cheaper. For example, the 5 BMW X2019 cost $18 at auction, and in Ukraine, with all expenses, the final price was $300. And in our country, a similar model fetches about 31 dollars.
Electric cars are also gaining popularity. On average, they are bought for a price of between 5000 and 12 dollars, and the lowest bid in general was only 000 dollars - for this money, the 100 Fiat 500 Electric was purchased at the auction. Over the past three months, electric cars have accounted for nearly 2013% of total car imports, and Tesla is clearly in the lead here, especially with the 28 Model 3 and 2019 Model Y.
