They finally talked about it!
"So she doesn't work, she sits at home" - this is what is often said about women who are on maternity leave.
But raising children is also work. Sometimes it is even more difficult than an 8-hour working day in the office.
Research institution Pew Research Center conducted a survey of people aged 18 to 64 who are raising minor children. 12% said that taking care of children is very tiring compared to a regular office job, and 5% said they would rather work than take care of children. 62% of respondents said that severe fatigue and lack of sleep are their constant companions after the birth of children. 36% of survey participants said that paid work makes more sense.
"Parents feel the value of the time spent with their children. But many of them noted that work is still easier than taking care of a child."
