Many people sooner or later notice that their favorite, soft and fluffy towels have lost their softness and become harder and rougher. Is it possible to try to return the towels to their usual state and how to care for brand new, recently purchased towels so that they do not become coarse over time.
Let's start with how to properly wash towels. Most often, they are machine washed, which saves time. But it is necessary to remember that in order to preserve the softness of the towels, it is important not to fill the drum of the machine to the top, otherwise the powder will not be fully rinsed from the fabric, and it will become hard.
The temperature of the water in which you bathe is also important. You don't need to boil towels: this also makes the fabric coarse. Disinfection will pass with a bang at a water temperature of no higher than 40 degrees.
To soften the water and fabrics washed in it, women often use special laundry conditioners. However, frequent washing with their addition causes the towels to become rough.
A large amount of conditioner, which is not fully rinsed from the fabric fibers, can make towels stiffer. Therefore, it is necessary to wash towels at least occasionally without using additional means.
How to remove stubborn stains from towel fabric
Experts do not advise using bleaches for this, as they thin the material. Try using baking soda, salt, and hydrogen peroxide.
This approach is convenient for bath towels and those used for the face. Kitchen, especially white, can be bleached and boiled.
Simple vinegar can replace purchased laundry conditioner and at the same time return towels to their former softness. Add one cap of 9 percent vinegar to the water before you start rinsing the washed towels in the same water - and the result will pleasantly surprise you.
After the towels have been washed, they must be dried. A simple hanging on a rope or a special radiator for towels will be the right solution. Do not put terry towels on the battery after washing, if you do not want to get a rough and stiff fabric with creases.
Do you use a tumble dryer to dry towels? So that the towels dry faster and their fabric is not damaged and does not become rough, put a few clean tennis balls in the compartment. They will help to beat the fabric and make it softer.
It is important to remember that the softness of towels depends on the density and quality of the material from which they are made. For high-quality body towels, cotton is usually used and the density of the fabric is at least 500 grams per square meter.
Thicker towels dry more slowly and are quite heavy, while less dense ones lose their softness quite quickly. Always evaluate the density of the body towel if you want to get a soft, cozy and fluffy product.
