"I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate him on his election to the post of President of the United States. As I have already said, we will work with any head of state trusted by the American people. This will really be the case in practice," Putin said.

The Russian dictator added that he is ready for contacts with Trump and "does not consider it shameful" to call him. But he does not do this allegedly because "the leaders of Western countries suddenly stopped calling him."

Journalists asked Putin whether he is ready to hold discussions with Trump. "Ready," replied the Russian dictator. "But what has been said publicly so far..., what has been said about the desire to restore relations with Russia, to contribute to the end of the Ukrainian crisis (this is how Putin called the war against Ukraine - ed.), on in my opinion, it deserves attention at least," added the head of the Kremlin.
