The President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel spoke about the possible approach of Donald Trump to the end of the war in Ukraine. Pavel believes that Trump will probably try to reach an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but such an agreement may not be in the interests of Ukraine or Europe. This is reported by Aktuality.sk.

The Czech leader emphasized that the situation on the battlefield is becoming more and more difficult, which complicates attempts to motivate both sides to peace talks. According to him, there is an expectation in many countries that the new US administration can intensify the process of ending the conflict, and there are those who believe that Trump is really capable of doing it in a short time. However, Pavel is skeptical about such promises.

According to Pavel, the agreement that Trump may propose is unlikely to benefit Ukraine or its allies. It may involve serious concessions to Russia, for example, the transfer of part of the occupied Ukrainian territories or the delay of Ukraine's accession to NATO for a decade. Such a compromise can significantly limit Ukraine's long-term prospects for integration into Western structures, which, in turn, poses a serious challenge to the security of Europe as a whole.

The Czech president emphasized that although attempts to end the war can be evaluated positively, they should not be carried out at the expense of Ukrainian sovereignty or European values.
