Where did the Mykolaiv tram begin? What was he like when he replaced horses on city streets? What made this possible?
These and other questions are answered by a short animated documentary film created by the MY ART Platform within the framework of the project "Historical vlog "About: Mykolaiv?" with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, broadcast by Other TV.
The first tram in Mykolaiv started on December 21, 1914. It left the tram park, which is still at its original location, at the intersection of E. Lapchevskyi and Dekabristiv streets, near the Central Market. On this snowy day, as local newspapers reported, route number 1 reached the Railway Station, and from there it went to the city hospital on Volodarskyi Street. It was personally tested by the mayor of Mykolaiv, rear admiral Oleksandr Myazgovskyi and the mayor Mykola Leontovych, the founder of the zoo and the owner of the first car in the city. Only on the first day of operation, the tram carried 8 passengers, and the revenue amounted to 400 rubles...
