Many American women feel disillusioned, particularly concerned about the controversial decisions of the future president of the United States and his controversial personal history.
After the victory of Donald Trump in the US elections, American women are actively joining the "4B" movement and abstaining from sexual relations with men. Newsweek writes about it.
The protest movement "4B" was founded by feminists in South Korea back in 2019. Its name comes from the first letters of the words bihon (no marriage), bichulsan (no childbirth), biyeonae (no dating) and bisekseu (no sex).
Community activists encourage their like-minded people to "reclaim autonomy" over their bodies and reject stereotypical gender views on marriage and childbearing.
"The 4B movement is a shining example of how women are challenging the roles that society imposes on them," said psychologist and dating expert Leah Levy.
After the election of Donald Trump as president, many American women feel disappointed, in particular, they are worried about the politician's controversial decisions and his ambiguous personal history.
Journalists of the publication mention that during his previous term in office, Trump appointed three conservative judges to the Supreme Court, which later made a historic decision on abortion. Since then, 17 states have imposed restrictions on the procedure.
"Trump's victory lit a fire in the hearts of many women," says the 27-year-old Florida resident, who goes by the name Abby, on her TikTok page.
In the video, which has garnered nearly 10 million views, she shared her own story of breaking up with a Republican boyfriend and then joining the "4B" movement. The author of the viral clip decided not to reveal her last name for security reasons, since she started receiving threats from that time.
"I knew that my boyfriend and I did not exactly agree on politics, but until the night of the election, I had no idea how bad things were. He said: "You can't hate Trump for a little sexual harassment." You know, it was a moment like in a horror movie - and suddenly the doorbell rings," Abby explains her decision.
She firmly believes that Donald Trump's re-election is a reminder that a significant number of American men — fathers, sons and partners — are putting financial interests ahead of women's safety.
