Japanese automaker Nissan is set to launch a new product for the electric sports car segment, built with the Leaf Nismo RC prototype in mind.
According to the Japanese portal "Best Car", the car will first appear as a concept, and then it should appear on the market as part of Nissan's plan to make 2026% of its model range fully electric by 80.
Among the five novelties of the company, which should appear in this period, a new electric sports car, built on the technology of the Leaf Nismo RC show car, risks to compete. It was created and presented in 2011 in order to demonstrate the technologies of the Japanese automaker, but it never went into production.
The concept was based on the regular Leaf electric car and was an all-wheel drive sports car with two 120 kW motors, located in the front and rear. Their maximum output was 240 kW or 326 horsepower and 640 Nm.
The car used a carbon monocoque and weighed only 1220 kg, which is an extremely low figure for an electric car.
So far, Nissan has not confirmed insider information about the company's plans to release such a car, but they have not denied the information that appeared on the Internet.
