The right selection of food plays an important role in recovery after a cold. Some dishes are able to strengthen immunity, as they contain many vitamins and minerals. But there are also products, the use of which during and after a cold can harm the body.
Candies and other sweets are recognized as one of the most harmful for flu and colds. The refined sugar contained in them weakens the action of leukocytes, which contributes to a decrease in immunity and slows down the healing process.
It is also not recommended to use dairy products during the illness, such as cheese and whole milk. They stimulate the production of mucus and thicken it, so allergens stay longer in the body.
Another harmful product is potato chips. Like anything crunchy, they irritate the throat, which slows down the process of its recovery. In addition, the salt contained in chips causes dehydration and worsens the patient's condition.
Fruit juices can be good, but only if they do not contain a lot of sugar. During colds, it is better to give preference to freshly squeezed juice with a high content of vitamin C.
