Tragic incidents on the roads that lead to the death of people, unfortunately, happen quite often. Every year in Ukraine, thousands of people die in road accidents, and even more people suffer injuries of varying degrees of severity. The main reasons for this are the inattention of drivers and pedestrians, exceeding the permitted speed or driving under the influence of alcohol. However, in addition to this, there is a certain relationship between fatal accidents and the use of specific makes and models of cars.
The American Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducted a study in which it determined the cars with the highest rates of road deaths according to statistical data. The anti-rating included seven models with a fatality rate well above the average of 2,6 deaths per billion miles driven.
- Mitsubishi Mirage - 10,2 fatalities per 1 billion miles
- Chevrolet Corvette - 9,8 fatalities per 1 billion miles
- Honda Fit - 7,7 fatalities per 1 billion miles
- Kia Forte - 7,4 fatalities per 1 billion miles
- Chevrolet Spark - 7,2 fatalities per 1 billion miles
- Subaru BRZ - 6,9 fatalities per 1 billion miles
- Nissan 370Z - 6,2 fatalities per 1 billion miles
Having analyzed this anti-rating in detail, it can be seen that the main reasons for high mortality are the small dimensions of the car, excessive engine power and the lack of safety systems that would meet modern requirements.
