An angry crowd threw mud at Spain's King Philip VI and shouted insults at him as the monarch visited Paiporta, in the Valencia region, one of the worst affected by the recent devastating floods, on November 3.
"Murderer," the audience shouted to the Spanish king.
Insults were also directed at the government officials who had come to the city, and there were questions as to why they had not arrived earlier. To restrain the crowd, the police had to intervene, they used horses. Footage from the location also shows security personnel covering the king with umbrellas.
RegioNews reports about it with the BBC.
"King Felipe faced an angry crowd in flood-hit Paiport, Valencia province, with protesters chanting 'murderer,'" it said.
Local sources later said the king and his wife had stopped to visit another affected town, Chiwa, whose streets were cordoned off by police during their trip.
According to the latest official data, more than 210 people became victims of the natural disaster caused by the downpours, most of the dead in the autonomous community of Valencia in the east of the country. Dozens of people are considered missing.
The downpours that began on Monday caused flooding that destroyed bridges, cut off communities and left them without water, food and electricity.
