The Chinese company Xiaomi announced a new record on the legendary German Nurburgring track: it claims that the prototype of the three-motor SU7 Ultra passed the track in 6 minutes and 46,874 seconds. This is faster than the result of the record holder among serial electric cars, the Rimac Nevera coupe, whose time is 7 minutes and 5,3 seconds. However, it is still incorrect to compare SU7 Ultra and Nevera, since the production version of the Xiaomi hypercar has not yet been presented.
Xiaomi promises to completely declassify the serial SU7 Ultra in the near future. So far, only some characteristics of the prototype are known: it is driven by a three-motor power plant with a capacity of 1548 hp, it accelerates from a standstill to "hundreds" in 1,97 seconds, and to 300 km/h in 15,07 seconds. The prototype features a carbon fiber body, racing brakes and an aerodynamic body kit that generates more than two tons of downforce.
The serial version will be much more modest and probably slower. In addition, the electric car will be small-scale and very expensive. Earlier, Xiaomi's chief executive Lei Junya said that he could not afford such a purchase, although his fortune is estimated at $13,8 billion.
As for other Nürburgring record holders, the Mercedes-AMG One remains the fastest among production road cars, which crossed the track in 6 minutes and 29 seconds. Among the electric prototypes, the Volkswagen ID.R coupe is the fastest since 2019, its result is 6 minutes and 5,336 seconds.
