China on Monday launched a commercial Lijian-1 Y5 launch vehicle, which put 1 Earth observation satellites into orbit, including a remote sensing spacecraft for Oman.
This is reported by CGTN, Ukrinform reports.
The rocket launched from the site of the commercial space launch pilot area in northwestern China at 12:03 local time (06:03 Kyiv time).
Among those launched into space are the Jilin-1 Gaofen, Yunyao-1 and Siguan-1 series satellites, as well as an Earth remote sensing satellite launched for Oman.
The message does not specify the purpose of the spacecraft, but it is known that the Jilin-1 satellites can receive high-resolution images of the earth's surface, which are used for emergency and rescue operations, resource exploration, environmental monitoring and a number of other areas.
Devices of the "Yunyao" series are designed for monitoring agricultural land and meteorological observations and collect data about the atmosphere - its temperature, humidity, pressure and density.
The Lijian-1 solid-fuel four-stage light launch vehicle was developed by CAS Space, a commercial company founded by the Institute of Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Its first flight took place in July 2022, and today was the 5th mission during which the launch vehicle launched a total of 57 satellites into space.
The previous time the rocket was launched on September 25, when it launched five satellites into space.
"Lijian-1" has a length of 30 meters and a take-off weight of 135 tons and is capable of launching about 2 tons of payload into low Earth orbit and 1,5 tons into an orbit with a height of 500 km.
