California's governor said the state would stand up to Trump's "illegal actions."

The governor of California and representative of the Democratic Party, Gavin Newsom, said that the state authorities plan to oppose the "illegal actions" of Donald Trump, who won the US presidential election on November 5, 2024.

As reported by Ukrinform, Newsom wrote about this on the X social network.

"California is ready to fight. I have just called an emergency special session to help strengthen our legal resources and protect our state from any illegal actions by the new Trump administration," the California governor said.

According to him, the state government is ready to confront the administration of Donald Trump on many important issues — from fundamental civil rights through reproductive freedom to the fight against climate change.
