German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is ready to dissolve the country's parliament and announce new elections to the Bundestag. He said this at a press conference on Thursday, Reuters reports.

The publication reminds that this statement was made after the collapse of the tripartite coalition led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz. At the same time, the head of the Federal Republic of Germany called on all parties to "act responsibly."

"Now is the time not for tactics and tricks, but for intelligence and responsibility," Steinmeier emphasized.

As is known, Scholz said that he is ready to vote on the vote of confidence in the government. Only after a negative decision on this issue is made, Steinmeier has the right to call for new elections.
