Harris beat Trump in Iowa
In Iowa, Harris has the support of 47% of likely voters, while Trump has 44%. In the headquarters of the Republican, these results are considered to be distorted.
US presidential candidate Kamala Harris has pulled ahead of her rival Donald Trump in Iowa, a state Trump easily won in 2016 and 2020. This is evidenced by the data of a new Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll, Reuters reports.
In Iowa, Harris has the support of 47% of likely voters, while Trump has 44%, it said. That's a significant change from the September poll, where Trump led Harris by 4 percentage points.
"The poll shows that the shift in favor of Harris is driven by women, particularly older and independent voters," the Des Moines Register reports.
While Harris' lead is within a 3,4% margin of error, it still signals a shift in the traditionally Republican state.
Trump's staff called it a "clear deviation" and noted that the Emerson College poll more accurately reflects the state of the Iowa electorate.
The results of the Emerson College/RealClearDefense poll conducted on November 1-2 showed Trump with a significant lead of 10 percentage points. This difference is partly due to Trump's high support among men and independent voters, while Harris is popular among the under-30s.
Iowa provides six votes in the Electoral College, and 270 votes are needed to win the election.
