The first Caterpillar CAT 793 XE electric quarry dump truck with a 240-ton payload has arrived at the Cripple Creek and Victor (CC&V) Mine in Newmont, Teller County, Colorado and has already begun operations.

 

Just weeks after announcing the next generation of Caterpillar's line of battery-powered large haul trucks, CC&V's Newmont, Colorado mine has been announced as one of the test and validation sites where the first seven all-new CAT 793 XE Early haul trucks will be deployed Learner.

"In less than two years, we've gone from retrofitting existing equipment at our test site to developing a reliable solution ready for testing at our customers' sites," explained Caterpillar Vice President Brian Weller.

According to him, after the tests, all transmission elements were modernized. In the next phase of the Caterpillar Early Learner program, the company will attempt to integrate multiple electrified trucks on the same site with remote operators, confirming the integration of a fleet of battery electric vehicles with existing autonomous systems from CAT.
