'More Aggressive Than Last Time': Iran Plans To Strike Israel With Missiles With Powerful Warheads, WSJ

In response to the Israeli attack on Iran on October 26, official Tehran is planning a complex attack on Israel with the use of powerful warheads and other weapons.

This is reported by The Wall Street Journal with reference to Iranian and Arab sources, informs UAINFO.org with reference to NV.

Israel's punitive airstrike on Iran on October 26 destroyed the country's strategic air defenses, leaving them extremely vulnerable and dramatically increasing the risks for Tehran if it follows through, journalists report.

How the Israeli response develops will depend on the size, nature and effectiveness of the strike Iran threatens. Israel has so far refrained from striking Iranian oil and nuclear facilities, which are vital to its economy and security, but that calculus could change, Israeli officials told reporters.

Iranian authorities have told Arab diplomats that its regular army will be involved in a strike against Israel after four soldiers and a civilian were killed in an Israeli attack on October 26.

Moreover, the involvement of the Iranian regular army does not mean that the majority of troops will be involved - but it is assumed that the paramilitary Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps will not act alone in this case.

An Egyptian official told the WSJ that Iran had privately warned of a "tough and comprehensive response from Israel."

"Our military has lost people, so they need to react," an Iranian official said. He said Iran could use Iraqi territory for part of the operation and would likely target Israeli military facilities, "but much more aggressively than last time."

Iranian and Arab officials have said Iran does not plan to limit its strike on Israel to missiles and drones, as it did in two previous attacks. And more powerful warheads will be installed on all used missiles.

Tehran said it used mostly four different types of medium-range ballistic missiles — the Emad and Ghadr missiles and Iran's two newest and most advanced Kheibar Shekan and Fattah missiles — in its latest attack on Israel on Oct. 1.

Another factor in Iran's actions is the US presidential election, an Iranian official said. According to him, Tehran does not want to influence the US elections with its attack on Israel. It is expected to be organized after the November 5 vote, but before the inauguration of a new US president in January 2025.

According to the American intelligence services, it is better for Iran to win the election of Kamala Harris than Donald Trump.

Officials in Egypt, Bahrain and Oman said Iranian diplomats had given them the broadest picture of retaliation — after warnings from the U.S., both public and private, that an eye-for-an-eye retaliation with Israel would not be tolerated.
