We all want to share our achievements and joys with the world. We also want someone to listen to our stories of suffering and misery.
But no matter how much we strive to build deep connections with other people, there will always be things that are better kept secret for our own good.
This does not mean that you need to be secretive. It just makes sense to protect yourself from emotional (and sometimes even physical) harm by keeping some facts a secret.
Here are 6 things that are absolutely not worth talking about out loud:
Dreams and goals
Research shows that talking about your dreams and goals publicly makes them less likely to be achieved. You are so pleased that others have learned about your bold plans that you lose the motivation to make them a reality.
Add to that the judgment and expectations of others and you have the perfect recipe for failure. Don't let this extra stress into your life.
Privacy
If you share the secrets of your personal life with others, it will eventually lead to trouble. There is almost no trust left in today's world. It is very difficult to find an honest person who should be trusted.
So why tell such intimate things to outsiders? Keep them with you. No one can destroy what they do not even know about.
Family problems
Everyone has family conflicts. But every family finds its way out.
Love, hate and other violent feelings are a personal matter for everyone. It is not necessary for outsiders to know about it.
Property
Bragging about material goods can be misunderstood by others. You never know how outsiders will react.
There are people in the world who are willing to risk their lives just to get what you have. Some do not even have access to clean water, and some can barely scrape together enough money to live on.
Good deeds
Kindness is sorely lacking in the world. But you cannot do good only in front of others.
If you want to help someone, do it sincerely, not for compliments and praise.
pennies
It is unwise to tell others about your finances. Outsiders have nothing to know about your salary.
Asking a person how much he earns is disrespectful and rude. Only fools talk about money out loud. Your finances are your personal business and no one else's.
