Jeep has announced that it will expand its line of hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars. In this way, the company aims to diversify its fleet of electrified vehicles in the US and abroad.
"Between a plug-in hybrid and an electric car, there is quite a big difference technically, because one of the cars has an engine, although they share a fairly powerful battery," said Jeep vice president of global product planning Matthew Nyquist.
According to him, hybrids can give the market a large range and "interesting" prices. Jeep did not say when its new hybrids will go on sale, but said they will be sold worldwide. According to company representatives, they could prove particularly popular in markets such as Japan and China, where the electric Avenger was recently launched.
