A heart attack is a pathological condition in which the heart muscle is blocked by a spasm or blood clot, as a result of which the blood supply is disrupted.
According to the British Heart Foundation, the symptomatology of a heart attack is very extensive, and people may experience different symptoms. However, doctors identified the three most common signs of a heart attack:
- Pain or discomfort in the chest that suddenly occurs and does not go away;
- Pain that may spread to the left or right arm, neck, jaw, back, or abdomen;
(For some people the pain is severe, while other people are just uncomfortable) - Nausea, sweating, dizziness or shortness of breath.
At the same time, you can have a heart attack without experiencing the above symptoms or "classic" chest pain.
Most heart attacks are associated with discomfort in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes, or it may go away and then come back. This may feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness, or pain.
There are a number of other ways to maintain heart health.
- smoking cessation;
- Athletics;
- a diet that includes fiber;
- control your weight.
