Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign has raised $1 billion since entering the presidential race in late July.

Two sources informed CNN about this, reports Ukrinform.

For the first time, the amount of 1 billion dollars was reported by NBC News. The same information was later confirmed by a Reuters source. The money reflects the enthusiasm of donors in the run-up to the election and will be used for advertising, operations in the states where the races will be held and for Harris' staff, the source said.

The Harris campaign declined to comment.

The surge in donations helped Harris quickly surpass the sums raised by Donald Trump's campaign. His team announced that it had raised about $430 million with the Republican Party over a three-month period, from the beginning of July to the end of September. To overcome the financial gap, Trump is helped by super committees (super PACs), which are financed by wealthy Republicans. Trump-linked PACs Make America Great Again, Inc. led outside spending in the presidential race. But PACs linked to Elon Musk, the world's richest man and a known Trump supporter, have poured more than $79 million into this year's election.

The candidates' campaigns will report their September fundraising and spending details to the Federal Election Commission later this month.
