A new traffic sign with a large dot in a triangle has been installed on the roads of Ukraine. The Road Traffic Rules explain what it means, but only in the latest edition of the Traffic Rules.
Two years ago, there was an update of the Traffic Regulations of Ukraine, including the introduction of a road sign popularly called the "dot in the triangle." And they started installing it recently. In fact, it passed the certification more than 10 years ago, but at that time it was not added to GOST. It was introduced in 2014, but they "forgot" to include it in the driver's license exam.
In fact, it was only in November 2021 that the dot-in-a-triangle road sign began to "come to the masses." Now it can be seen on the roads of Ukraine.
What does the dot in the triangle road sign mean
This sign has the official name "Place (district) of concentration of traffic accidents" and the codification (serial number in the traffic rules) is 1.41. The sign warns drivers that they are entering a section of the road where there are more accidents. Thus, the sign forces drivers of vehicles to be even more attentive.
The sign is installed at the following distance from the dangerous section of the road:
- in the settlement - 50-100 meters away;
- depending on the settlement - 150-300 meters away.
Currently, this new road sign is being actively installed on both sides of the main transport highways. By the way, the Highway Service regularly reports on this and urges drivers to pay attention to the new sign.
