In connection with threats of sabotage by special forces specializing in the fight against terrorism, the German special forces GSG 9 will be transferred to the Baltic.
They will deal with the protection of underwater infrastructure in the Baltic and North Seas, informs UAINFO.org with reference to Tagesschau.
According to the publication, the decision to place special forces in the city of Neustadt on the Baltic Sea was made personally by the Minister of the Interior of Germany, Nancy Feser.
"Due to such a location, the unit will be able to respond more quickly to crisis situations both in the seas and in the north of Germany," the message says.
The publication also noted that Germany regularly records the activity of "Russian spy ships" that "map the network of pipelines and other underwater lines at the bottom of the North and Baltic seas."
