Biden said that he opposes Israel's strike on Iran's nuclear facilities.
The Financial Times writes about it.
Although some Israeli officials have called for such strikes, the source said that option is not being considered. Israel is weighing several options for response, including strikes on missile launchers or oil infrastructure.
Instead, the US and other Western allies are urging Israel to focus on military objectives.
"They have the right to respond, but they have to respond proportionately," Biden said after speaking with G7 leaders to discuss sanctions against Iran.
Undersecretary of State Kurt Campbell said there were "real fears of an even greater escalation or continuation... that would endanger not only Israel, but our strategic interests."
However, the Americans recognize that their influence on Israel may be limited.
