Recently, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz confirmed that Berlin will not transfer Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine due to the "high risk of escalation". Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson criticized Scholz and called for a reconsideration of the position.
“We definitely need a Taurus supply, definitely. In view of Germany's history, Scholz can be understood, but now it is necessary to take a clear position at a decisive stage," Johnson told the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper.
At the same time, according to Scholz, Germany's position also applies to any other weapon capable of attacking targets at a long distance. He emphasized that this will remain unchanged even if other countries decide otherwise.
This is not the first time that Boris Johnson has made accusations against the chancellor. In an interview with CNN in 2022, he stated: "Germany's opinion at a certain point was that it would be better if everything ended quickly and Ukraine surrendered."
At the time, a German government spokesman harshly responded that "the highly entertaining former prime minister always has his own relationship with the truth."
