Bruises under the nails can indicate cancer, and red streaks on the plates indicate a heart infection.
Changes in the condition of the nails can occur in connection with the development of diseases - dermatologists Shari Lipner and Christine Ko told about this in an interview with the Daily Mail. One of the signs that should not be ignored are bruises that appear under the nail plates, doctors stated.
"Bruises under the nail plate can be a sign of cancer - subungual melanoma. This form of cancer can appear in the form of a dark band under the nail," the dermatologists clarified.
The appearance of red stripes on the nails is a possible sign of infective endocarditis (heart infection). Pathogenic microorganisms that enter the bloodstream can penetrate the heart muscle. They are able to stimulate inflammation in the main engine of the human body.
Those who notice that the nails have become thin, doctors advise to be careful.
"In some cases, thin and peeling nails can signal arthritis."
Also, nails can lose strength, becoming brittle. Increased fragility of nail plates usually indicates a lack of nutrients in the body - it, in turn, can be caused by an unhealthy diet or pathologies in which the body does not absorb microelements from food.
If the nails begin to bend inward, then you can suspect problems with the lungs or heart, which lead to a lack of oxygen or impaired blood circulation. In this case, blood accumulates in the tips of the fingers - they can increase, and the nails on them - bend.
