The EU reviews personal sanctions every six months
Restrictions may be lifted in respect of Nikita Mazepin, a former Formula 1 driver, and Violetta Prigozhina, the mother of PVK founder Yevhen Prigozhin.
The ambassadors of the EU countries gave the "green light" to the extension of personal sanctions against Russia. Radio Svoboda correspondent Rikard Jozvyak wrote about this on the X social network on Wednesday, September 11.
According to him, a decision was made in Brussels to exclude Nikita Mazepin, a former Formula 1 driver, and Violetta Prigozhina, the mother of PVK founder Yevhen Prigozhin, from the sanctions list.
Jozwiak reminded that this decision is part of the regular review of sanctions, which is carried out every six months. During this procedure, the EU removes several names from the list, while continuing to expand it by adding new individuals and entities.
The final decision on this issue still needs to be approved by the EU leadership.
It was also reported that the EU extended sanctions against Russia for the annexation of Crimea.
